I had all these crazy ideas and they never said, ‘no.’ Willie (Eby), Royce (Eby) and all of the Mt. Tabor guys are easy to work with and down to earth. They were so close to us and made it very convenient to meet them at the house for regular meetings.

I had never built a home before and I’m not someone who likes making decisions. I was very impressed with Willie and Royce (Eby, of Mt. Tabor). The more I talked with them, the more I knew I wanted them to build my house. The house is really tight. You don’t hear the rain or wind. Even in the hottest month this summer, my energy bill was only seventy-four dollars.
Anne Marie Downey, Williamsport, MD
From the first meeting, we had the idea, but they (Willie and Royce Eby of Mt. Tabor Builders) guided us into exactly what we wanted. They took what we had and made some suggestions and adapted some things that enveloped our ideas. Sean (Mt. Tabor Foreman) was always available to meet and talk about the tweaks being made to the project. All around from start to finish, it was an excellent experience.

After spending three years contemplating a renovation to my home and with my budget in mind, I attended the Hagerstown Home Show last winter with a friend of mine who has renovated numerous properties to get some ideas.
I happened to come across the booth for Mt. Tabor Builders and after talking to Royce Eby, made an appointment for him and his brother Willie to see my property and talk about my goals. Willie and Royce were on time and their manner of working with a client appealed to me. They listened to what my goals and ideas about creating a relatively maintenance free home. Willie and Royce presented drawings, made changes we wanted and thoroughly walked us through a contract and answered every question imaginable.
The resulting renovation is fantastic and the entire Mt. Tabor team including their employees and subcontractors were professional and very respectful of the timeline and property. I have never encountered a construction crew that cleans up after themselves. At the end of each day, the work site was left organized and debris free with excess materials stacked for removal and trash cleaned up.
The end result is fantastic as you can see from the pictures. Willie, Royce and crew did an amazing job and have been great on the follow through. The work is excellent and within the budget with no surprises. I would definitely use Mt. Tabor again for a future project.

found Willie to be someone who is easy to work with. Throughout the process, Willie offered many ideas on how to improve our building plans.
From the first meeting, Willie’s calm, professional demeanor established him as someone with whom we wanted to work. Willie knows how to build a home and how to manage contractors, as well as how to treat his clients with respect and kindness. Our calls and meetings with Willie were so positive that we were sorry to see the project end.
Our new home is beautiful, well crafted, and solidly built. Willie’s employees are careful and considerate. Over and over, Willie’s subcontractors told us how they were taking care to build our home as if it were their own. Mike Stoner, one of Willie’s associates and a true craftsman of the highest caliber, did outstanding woodworking in our home, We are truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Willie Eby and his associates from Mt. Tabor Builders. We would recommend them to anyone who is considering any size building project.

I love my new kitchen and the work you have done. The more I use it, now that I’m settled in, the more I really like it, as does everyone who has come up to see it. Thanks again.

This letter is written as a recommendation for Mt.Tabor Builders.
I contracted with Mr.Willie Eby, president of Mt.Tabor Builders for the construction of my new home in April 2007. This home was built in Frederick, Maryland, and was completed in December 2007. Mt.Tabor Builders was extremely reliable and efficient. At no time was it necessary for me to prod them or call them because they were not timely. Their men were always pleasant to work with, neat in appearance and were excellent mechanics.
Mt. Tabor did all the framing, trim work inside and out, roofing, installation of all windows and doors and hardware. They also have close association with a number of subcontractors that can do all phases of construction and will contract to do a “turn key” project if requested to do so. I designed this home, and am a retired commercial builder and developer and because of this background have had many years of contact with the construction industry. Mt. Tabor provided me with the products above mentioned with diligence and satisfaction. My design was a very complex one as far as framing was concerned and was handled expeditiously by Mr. Eby’s men without any problem.
I highly recommend this firm for any type of construction, be it residential or commercial. They are pleasant to deal with and their quotations for the work to be performed are detailed and understandable. Their follow through with the necessary paper work and billings during construction are also in order and easily understood.
Please feel free to call me if you need to discuss Mt.Tabors’ qualifications.

I just wanted to take the time to again say thank you for all that you and your people have done for me in the building of our house. The workmanship is second to none as well as the expertise of the men that you have working for you says a lot about you as well as your company. I was happy that your men helped us with the idea process and would give us suggestions that really made the finishing touch on the house stand out for everyone who sees it.
From John & Irene, Keedysville
We were looking for a builder and we had seen some of Mt. Tabor’s work in the vicinity of our building lot so we setup a meeting with Willie to discuss a general home concept we had in mind. In the initial meeting with Willie and Royce, we decided to draft a plan which they were able to do in-house. The plan evolved over several subsequent meetings in which Willie and Royce offered suggestions and guidance in designing a house that would meet our taste and needs as well as fit our lot to take advantage of its mountain views.
Since the beginning, Willie and the team at Mt. Tabor have been a pleasure to work with and have made our building experience a positive one. That’s not to say everything went as planned, I doubt it ever does, but the folks at Mt. Tabor had solutions for any possible issue. In the end we have an attractive, quality home that should meet our needs for years to come.
From Aaron & Christina, Clear Spring
Terry (Mt. Tabor’s foreman) was great! He was the guy that was here all the time. And Willie (Mt. Tabor’s owner) answered all of our questions and made the project a seamless experience. We are extremely happy with our new home.
Isaac, Boonsboro
We started out talking to several other builders, but as we met with and talked to Willie (Eby) and Royce (Eby), we were sold and went with them. We had heard the horror stories about people who build a house or build a big addition, but they made it a smooth process. We had no issues and we know we have a quality-built home.
“We went through the whole process of, ‘do we build or do we buy?’ but in choosing a reputable builder like Mt. Tabor, I knew I wasn’t going to have anything to worry about and that was the case.
Nazia and Zubaid, Inwood, WV
Integrity was really important. Transparency was really important. We’ve had some friends that went through a building process and were so done with their contractor at the end. We definitely did not feel that way.
Bob and Robin, Greencastle, PA
We chose Mt. Tabor Builders for our new vacation home (Greencastle, PA) based on solid recommendations from family, our realtor and other reliable references. We’re so glad we did. Our experience with Mt. Tabor has been extraordinarily positive so far. From our first meetings through the design and bid process, Willie and Royce Eby have been professional, friendly, helpful and, most importantly, communicative.
Their work is top-notch, and they provide step-by-step details on what to expect as we move forward. We’re looking forward to having Mt. Tabor construct our vacation getaway in the West Virginia mountains!
Beth B. of Great Cacapon, WV
Mt. Tabor was our fifth builder that we sat down with to plan our dream retirement home. The other four builders we walked away from did not provide the comprehensive home builder service with the confidence of what we wanted and needed. When obtaining quotes from Well Drilling and Water treatment companies, they suggested Mt. Tabor Builders.
Upon the initial meeting with Willie Eby and Royce Eby, we knew we finally found a builder that could visualize our dream home as we wanted built and not the cookie cutter home that was comfortable and quick to build for the builder. Once they saw the location, I think Willie was just as excited to build the home as we were to live there. This was not just another house to build, they wanted to build our home. This emotional “buy in” was very important to us. Willie and his team sincerely wanted to provide us with a home that could be enjoyed by our entire family for years to come. I could see the expressions on their faces when talking about having large family dinners and Holiday gatherings appealed to them. They were building a family home for lasting memories.
Nice guys are nice guys, but when you are trusting someone with your life savings, you check them out first. Couldn’t find anything derogatory or negative. Believe me, I looked. We also spoke with other service providers, and they spoke highly and respectfully of Mt. Tabor Builders and their business practices.
Then it came down to the most important reasons we chose Mt. Tabor Builders, trust and accountability. Once we decided on the plans within a very short time we sat down with Willie and Royce. Every line item of the contract was reviewed, discussed, clarified and agreed upon. This was the first builder that provided this level of transparency. Also, what was discussed were the sub-contractors to be used and Willie’s reassurance the work would be completed to his level of standards. Even though we were not in Maryland, he built the home to Maryland code and specs (which were not required at the location site).
At this point we were introduced to Shawn, the foreman on the project. Shawn was assigned to us, not just the project to build the home. He was the only foreman (go to guy) from day one until completion. Shawn is approachable, open and easy to discuss concerns. We started building the same time the cost and shortages hit due to COVID. Not an easy time for builders or home owners. Shawn’s calm, patient approach to just about any situation was reassuring and calming.
The framing crew worked relentlessly and were meticulous to build a home withstanding of the challenging natural elements. Alex and Cameron (Willie’s sons) along with Gary were respectful, polite and are conscientious craftsman of their trade. They felt more like our grandsons then framers.
The stone mason, Everett Eby has provided us a stone fireplace so beautiful everyone has their picture taken by it. It is one of the main focal points of the home. The outside stone veneer has strangers stopping by to comment on the beauty. Everett is an artesian of stone placement.
The other trades; Trim Carpenters (Neal and Gary), Electrical (Anytime Electric, Chad), plumbing (Wes), HVAC, ceramic tile, and wood flooring, and excavators (Jarryd Keplinger) worked with the same level of workmanship and dedication to the project.
Building and working with a company for over nine months to build your home can be stressful, financially challenging especially during challenging times of COVID. Sometimes the end result is not positive. Our end result was a beautiful home, and the forever friendship of the Mt. Tabor family.
If you are looking for a home builder, or home improvement provider that can deliver superb craftmanship, accompanied by integrity, honesty and high standard of work ethics then don’t waste your time on the other four builders, call Mt. Tabor and talk to Willie Eby. They do it right.

About a year ago, we embarked on building our dream house, retirement house, forever home. We were blessed to find an outstanding contractor in MT. Tabor (Builders), aka Willie Eby and Project Foreman Shawn Smith and his crew. We couldn’t have asked for a better contractor or foreman, who have also become our good friends. It’s truly been a great experience building with these guys. We couldn’t recommend them more! As we finish this project, we just have to say thank you Shawn, Willie and all the Mt Tabor guys.

“Thanks to the craftsmanship, dedication and focus of Willie Eby and the Mt. Tabor team, my wife and I were able to transform a 1980’s riverfront cabin into a truly modern riverfront home. Our project included an approximately 1400’ addition to an existing 1400’ structure. The project included a full (gut) renovation of the existing structure to ensure perfect design consistency between old and new (inside and out). The project was a total success, and we recommend Mt. Tabor unqualifiedly. If we have any building needs in the future, Mt. Tabor will be our first and only stop.
“Our home is located on a steep lot overlooking the Potomac River. Thus, we required a contractor whose team (and subcontractors) had experience with and could tackle the inevitable challenges that come with building on a lot such as ours. Frankly, the entire project hinged on success in connection with this requirement. Willie and his team succeeded in every respect.
“One of our highest priorities was ensuring that at the end of the project our home did not look like an ‘old’ cabin with a ‘new’ addition. We wanted a finished product that to anyone unfamiliar with our old home looked like new construction throughout. To accomplish this, we knew we would require a level of craftsmanship and experience from a builder up to the challenge of achieving a final product that integrated ‘old’ and ‘new’ – inside and out – seamlessly. Frankly, the final product has exceeded our very high expectations in every respect. In fact, our friends who have seen the final product swear that we demolished the old house and built new.
“Our home was specifically designed to accommodate the accessibility requirements of one of our family members. In addition, the home was designed to be a forever home – or at least one able to support our requirements as we aged. Thus, our construction partner needed to have familiarity and experience with ADA standards and able to build to our exacting specs. On the latter point, there was zero room for error, since without a functioning lift/elevator or properly sized doors, fixtures, etc., the project would have been a total failure. Happily, I can report that that Mt. Tabor stuck the landing here, and the property functions exactly as conceived and designed.
“Meeting deadlines was an expectation we communicated to Willie beginning with our first meeting, and we were completely satisfied. Specifically, we began our project in mid-September (the end of the river season) and were in our new home enjoying river views by mid-May (the beginning of the season). This was a non-negotiable point for us. To ensure timely completion, the Mt. Tabor team worked tirelessly with us to ensure that building components with long lead times were ordered well advance (e.g., windows, steel siding, kitchen cabinets) and were at the job site when needed during construction. Unbelievable as it may seem given the horror stories involving current construction delays (with other contractors), we had no significant delays, and we were in on our new home in time to enjoy the full 2023 river season.
“This was among the most important factors when deciding on our construction partner. We don’t like surprises, though we understood surprises were inevitable when opening up an existing 40-year-old structure. This is a second home, so we were offsite during the construction and required timely and regular updates – not only when there were questions or issues to be resolve – but also throughout the process to ensure regular timelines were being met. To their credit, the Mt. Tabor team did an excellent job ensuring that surprises were kept to a minimum and that we were well informed throughout the construction process. Without such clear and regular communication (especially with the project Supervisor), we most certainly would not have met our aggressive schedule.
“When interviewing construction firms, (we interviewed three firms), we weren’t looking for the low-cost provider; nor were we looking for the most expensive. We believed there was value in the intangible factors noted above, so we were looking for the firm that delivered the best overall value and that we thought struck the best balance across the dimensions of cost and the critically important intangibles. Importantly, we had a very positive vibe from Willie and his colleagues beginning with our first meeting. Those positive impressions never faded, and Willie and his team hit the mark completely on this requirement.
“Last but by no means least, we were looking for a construction partner that we believed was high integrity, willing to communicate honestly and directly and honor their commitments throughout what we knew would be a sometimes-stressful process. We knew that if we got this requirement right that it was more likely that our other objectives would be achieved. Willie Eby and is team – Mt. Tabor Builders – are in our humble opinions the very definition of high integrity building professionals.”
Glenn M., Hagerstown, MD
“We had an old deck on the back of our house that was here when we moved in. It was past its prime and needed to be replaced. I’m not a fan of wood decks and based on the architecture of the house, we wanted a porch and patio that looked like they were original to the house not an add on.
“We made several inquiries to builders via the internet and cold calls. We decided to go to the home show and see who we could find. From the first contact with Mt Tabor, they communicated extremely well; were very punctual and organized and willing to do our project. I had a good feeling right from the start.
“They provided extremely good communication of when they would be on site and what exactly would be done. They accessed my property from the lower side, so as not to use my driveway and to minimize any burden due to construction. Also they used the cul-de-sac to stage the materials and equipment — even the Porta-Jon — with no impact to the neighbors.
“I was pleasantly surprised by how well Mt Tabor communicated throughout the entire project and how well the finished product looked original to the construction of the house
“I had a vision for what I wanted and Mt Tabor absolutely made it come true. Our project was not just a conventional porch we also had a room (shed) built underneath the porch.
“We feel like we have more living space about eight months out of the year, more storage space and less maintenance.”
Brandon H., Axonics Modulation Technologies
