Timber Shop

Mt Tabor's Timber Shop allows us to provide top quality building and design wood products for our projects.

A Tradition of Custom Timber Details

Mt. Tabor Builders has incorporated timber frame materials in much of their work over the years. Traditionally our process would be to outsource the timber-cutting itself, then our staff would assemble those pieces on site.

New Timber Capabilities

In the fall of 2023, Mt. Tabor Builders, Inc. made the commitment to take out the middleman, and open their own Timber shop. This step allows us to carefully source the materials and control the manufacture of the timber frames. We can then assemble and install our own timbers parts on our jobsites.

To accomplish our goal of an on-site timber shop, we brought onboard an experienced Heavy Timber Carpenter, Ben, who brings in over 20 years of expertise and knowledge in manufacturing the quality timber elements we need for our custom builds. Ben has designed, manufactured, and installed many different types of buildings over his career, so he’s well positioned to support our building crews on any type of project.

Ben cuts all of the joints at our custom timber shop. On-site, our crew – led by Timber Superintendent Luke –  is now capable of fulfilling any design concept needed to meet our customer’s requirements. We aren’t limited in what our in-house draftsman can create… we can do it all. We’ll assist you in selecting the proper species of wood for your specific needs, and in sourcing the best specimens of that type of wood.  Once selected, the Timber Shop can cut the mortise and tenon joints, and our on-site crews can assemble and install it at the job site with real, hand-made oak pins.

We take great pride in providing a truly authentic timber frame experience, and in building home interiors and exteriors that will last a lifetime.

Mt Tabor’s Rick Yohe says:
